Illuminating the Apocalypse

If you don't know what is happening you tend to assume the worst. Even in the zombie apocalypse, there is a better and a worse. Having a reliable and sustainable way to listen in to the radio is a great way to assess whether it is time to bug in or out. Is it time to make for the hills and not look back, or does it seem like the authorities might actually have a handle on the situation?
Broadcast radio is a fairly resiliant system. There are back up generators which provide the possibility of radio even into the later stages of the collapse. In fact, Canada just upgraded it's emergency broadcast system this year, providing us with a quicker distribution of warnings, should the dead arise.
As with most of my gear, I want to make sure each piece pulls it's weight. When a crank radio has an added flashlight, it gives it the extra feature it needs to make the cut. While the light isn't going to illuminate the battle field, it will help me readjust my gear and follow my map even after my batteries give out.
Who knows what the zombie infested world might look like. You may just be wondering the wastelands of our former civilization only to stumble across a broadcast of the Ink Spots to pick up your spirits and splash some colour other than red into your adventure.
If you don't have your own crank radio/flashlight, check out my Strategist Survival Pack, and head to Zombie Survival Shop for all your other survival equipment needs.
