ZSC - The Strategist at Work

They call me "the Strategist". Well to be fair, I kind of told them to. All of the ZSC instructors had a say in deciding the best fitting handle for ourselves. The idea was to have a name that encompasses what you bring to the ZSC team and to those we train. I train people in wilderness survival. Why then not call me Wildman or Woodsman or some other such themed name? For me, what I teach is secondary to why I teach it. The way things fit into the big picture is my focus, whether it is with my lessons or how the ZSC organization operates. Fine, but why do I teach people wilderness survival basics? The foundations are too often overlooked. When worse comes to worse and zombies are everywhere, people will want to go to where the zombie hoardes are thin. Away from cities and into the forest. Make the strategic decision to leave the comfort and familiarity of the cities and outlive the zombies by applying the skills you learned at camp. You can save up and buy a firefighter suit with oxygen tank or when the time comes you can quickly leave the burning building. While this is a crude and obvious example, I think you get the idea. I like the nickname "the Strategist". It has the bonus effect of keeping me focused on ways I can support the community and team. Plus it sounds cooler than "the Planner".

If you had to have a handle what would it be? If you came to teach at camp, what would you teach?
