There are like minded people in the unlikeliest places. The beauty and honesty of a life lived centred on sustainability, adaptability and community transcends geography, class and profession. This becomes quite clear when you hear about the case of Blue Jay's pitching prospect Daniel Norris.
Daniel is a young man with massive talent, a significant (2 million dollar) signing bonus, and a wisdom beyond his years. Despite his being an extremely well paid athlete, Daniel has chosen to live a self-reflective, sustainability focused, and simple life... out of a van. He has made the choice to remain conscious and connected to his ability to survive and enjoy life in it's simplest forms.

Daniel is quoted by Eli Saslow in his ESPN piece as saying,"Where else can you be as free as by yourself in the middle of nowhere, or in the middle of the ocean, or on the peak of a mountain. Adventure is freedom." Daniel's sense of adventure is clearly connected to the test of ones basic ability to exist in our natural world. The ESPN article recounts a time when Daniel was washed out to sea by the tide while napping on a surfboard on the beach. He was quite a distance from shore, out there by himself, disoriented and scared. 'That was one of the best moments of my life,' he says."

Each member of the ZSC team can relate. There is a strange almost counterintuitive contentment that overwhelms all physical or mental distress when you overcome an arbitrary limit you had set on yourself. Like Daniel, we seek to set up our lives so that experiences of transcendence and growth occur as frequently as possible.
We have worked hard to integrate this into the experience we provide at Zombie Survival Camp training weekends. People leave the weekend with a sort of mental high and exhilarated outlook that can only be found in the unexpected wild corners of life. Daniel Norris has designed his life so it backs onto these wild corners. ZSC has been building a community that just happens to be right next door to Daniel. We can't tell you how nice it is to have such great neighbours. If you aren't already one, we suggest you take the tour and come out to one of our events, they are a great place to get started.
