Hydration in the Apocalypse - Part 1 (Chlorine Tabs)

Whether you're camping, hiking, or surviving the zombie apocalypse, you're going to need drinking water. If you've been at our camp, the Strategist’s teaches you about only having three days without water before you're dead, so we're going to put clean water high on our priority list. I’ve experimented with several methods over the last couple of years and I’m going to share with you the best way to purify your water.

I have always thought of boiling your water as the best way to purify water, but there are products that can make your life exponentially easier for getting safe drinking water. Boiling consumes time and resources. If you're trying to keep a low profile, the smoke from the fire will show zombies exactly where their next meal is.

I always carry a pack of 10 aquatablets in my bag when I go out into the woods. They're a light, easy to use, chlorine tablet that sterilizes your water. Bceause they are so light, you wont need to carry several kilograms of drinking water, just make it on the go.

The problem with chlorine tablets is that they don't filter out particulates. Little floaty bits of pond scum can make it very unappitizing. The chlorinated pool-water taste can be pretty strong so I end up drinking less water than I should simply because I don’t enjoy it.
