The Sustaining Game

In order to outlive the undead, we must plan for the long term. In truth, in order to continue as a species or just day to day, we have to have some sense of how sustainable our daily actions are.

This often difficult to face truth is why we have decided to place sustainability in the too hard to ignore ZSC ethos. We must constantly remind ourselves that survival, in it’s truest human form, requires us to think past our immediate base needs or desires. If we are going to sustain both our lives and some semblance of our civilization, we will need to build into our habits actions which will not harm the greater human or ecological good.

Some may say “aw the sustaining game is boring! Let’s play hungry hungry hippos!”. You would be right to feel that at times it isn’t fun, but finding yourself up in an Easter Island 2 situation with nothing but barren land or empty cans is probably less fun. What better way to be ready for the zombie apocalypse than to be on a sustainable trajectory starting now.

Don’t get us wrong, this is a difficult adaptation; however, it’s one we won’t be doing alone. Sustainability is arguably impossible “alone”. Thus, a community we must form. It is only together that we stand a chance of making it through the zombie apocalypse or any grand challenge life throws at us.
