The zombie apocalypse has a strange and morbid appeal. The reality of the brutality which would occur becomes clear when you watch the Walking Dead. However, the zombie survivalists among us still find some hope in the outbreak scenario. I believe this hope is founded in a shared belief that the zombie outbreak will act as both a liberator and equalizer.

Our day to day lives can often feel monotonous and without a sense of greater purpose. We can feel stuck working away at things we just don't see the good in doing. During the zombie apocalypse our survival is of utmost importance. The fate of our closest compatriots and frankly, humanity rests on our shoulders. If that isn't a reason to get up in the morning I don't know what is?

When it comes to fairness and equality, our society hasn't exactly got great stats. It's a little discouraging to know it would not be worth Bill Gates time (based on his earnings per second) to bend over and pick up $15,000 in cash but the average person would calculate worth in a dollar. Come the zombieapocalypse, that discrepancy disappears.

There is something reassuring knowing someone like Bill would be scrounging for canned goods just like the rest of us. Zombies, as horrifying as they are, reset the world. You become free and equal in your struggle to not be consumed.
